St. Peter's Church
The Ancient Chapelry of Formby
Consecrated 1747
St. Peters Church of England in Formby has been a centre of Christian worship and a source of Christian witness, inspiration, encouragement and service within and beyond the community of Formby for more than 250 years, ever since its Consecration in 1747.

The building itself is Grade 2 listed. Its fine Georgian nave was completed in 1746. An 18th century "Singers Gallery" with box pews adorns the west end of the nave which is lined with large, clear, wood traceried windows. Unique semicircular wooden beam trusses support the roof. A lovely Victorian chancel was added in 1869.
The styles of nave and chancel complement each other in a most satisfactory way. John Betjeman once visited the church and remarked on the effective use of glass.
The Vicar of St. Peters, Rev. Paul Ormrod, received his early theological training at Westcott House, Cambridge, and after holding a curacy at Prescot and becoming Team Vicar at Woolston, he was welcomed to St. Peters in 1995.
Fr. Paul actively encourages all parishioners to explore their faith and its implications through Bible studies, Quiet days, "Think-about" Sundays, thought-provoking sermons and sensitively led worship.
The Eucharist is celebrated as the central act of thanksgiving.
Links with the local Primary and Secondary schools in the Parish are being strengthened, and a Lay Visiting Team established. As Chaplain to nearby RAF Woodvale, Fr. Paul ministers to the base and maintains the annual Battle of Britain recognition at a service of remembrance in the church.
The Vicar encourages all to live out their faith within their families and community and to build one another up.
